via Ginger, our boy Fred is going to be attending the funeral of a marine who was killed in combat in Iraq.

He wants to point out to the grieving families and loved ones that God let their father/son/husband/friend die because, of course, He hates fags.
Thank God for IEDs killing American soldiers in strange lands every day.
WBC rejoices every time the Lord God in His vengeance kills or maims an American soldier with an Improvised Explosive Device (IED). "The righteous shall rejoice when he seeth the vengeance: he shall wash his feet in the blood of the wicked" (Ps. 58:10).
This nation bombed and raided the Westboro Baptist Church, and now the Holy God that Inhabits Eternity is repaying those heinous acts with His retaliatory wrath; "Vengeance is mine; I will repay, saith the Lord" (Rom. 12:19).
To most effectively cause America to know her abominations (Ez. 16:2), WBC will picket the funerals of these Godless, fag army American soldiers when their pieces return home. WBC will also picket their landing spot, in Dover, Delaware early and often.

Some military wives have come up with a profoundly satisfying way to stick this straight in the deranged old bastard's craw
Phelps is coming to protest Sgt. Christopher Taylor's funeral Saturday. To these women, he was a soldier who fought for the rights of others.

"That's the worst part about it. This man just died for him to be able to go and do this," said Danielle Sanders, the wife of an Army Drill Sergeant.

Phelps is highly outspoken against homosexuality. He believes God is killing America's soldiers because "gays are taking over the country." However, one woman says a group in Michigan has already dealt with the protesting pastor.

"He protested their bar, and they decided instead of counter-acting and counter-protesting him with signs, they decided to do a fundraiser," said Melissa Yoannon, the local fundraiser coordinator.

All these ladies are asking for is a nickel, dime or quarter pledge per minute that Phelps protests Taylor's funeral.

Yoannon asked, "I thought if we could do this and get some money for Sgt. Taylor's wife, to make up for this man putting such a stain on the last peaceful moment she has with him, why not?"

"That's already enough of a burden on the family to have to deal with that, especially with the kids. Then have some guy sharing his views on something that has nothing to do with the family," said Sanders.

Yoannon has set up a phone number and e-mail address where you can send your pledge.

"They can just e-mail me their name, phone number and what they want to pledge. I'll get back to them and give them the information where they can send the money to."

She said it's the least they can do in this time of grief.

"If he wants to spill his hate, we'll spill our love and money."

If you wish to make a pledge, you can contact Yoannon at (706)366-0945. To e-mail your information, send it to sgt.taylorfund@hotmail.com.

If you wish to make a flat donation, you can do so by stopping by or sending it to any Charter Bank location. In Opelika, you can call (334)742-0266. The mailing address is:

Charter Bank
114 S. 7th Street
Opelika, AL 36801

Make your donation to the Sgt. Christopher Taylor Fund.

You'd also want to keep in mind that when exposed to love and compassion, Fred Phelps might just suffer one of those matter-antimatter existence failures they used to have in Star Trek.

More importantly, somebody needs to support the troops. Not in the bizarre schizophrenic you have to die for no reason but in return we'll be real understanding if you feel as if you need to torture somebody way that the neoconservative right has been wielding like a banner since this whole useless business started. Thousands of kids who died for less than they could have been making at WalMart deserve more in return for their lives than a free ride for a few slackjawed sadists who are getting their rocks off at the cost of growing the insurgency that's killing thousands of kids who died for less than they could have been making at WalMart.

They're surer'n hell not going to get it from the keyboard warriors of the neoconservative right. Even if they were so inclined, they're too busy keying cars with anti-war bumper stickers and getting elderly pacifist nuns on nofly lists. For, you know, freedom. And besides, they're not so inclined.

Pass this on, OK? This family and all the families like them need to know someone hasn't forgotten them.

This is now the classic technique for dealing with Fred Phelps. It doesn't seem to faze him, but it does raise a lot of money.

It was, incidentally, invented by two friends of mine right here in Ann Arbor, Michigan back in 2001. Gay groups have been using it against him ever since, and I'm sure Keith and Martin will be delighted to see the soldiers' families doing the same thing.

well, good on them.

My husband, the expatriate 'gander (or as he insists, 'ganian) thinks that's very cool.

Just for amusement, I decided to visit the freepers in their natural habitat. They seem to be under the delusion that Phelps is an invention of the Democrats.

Nothing slips by their keen minds, apparently.

apparently he's registered as a Democrat.

I guess his daddy made him promise, just like Senator Zell.

Phelps is truly sick. Whenever I hear about one of his protests I want to puke.

well, see, now there's something more useful you can do.

Fred Phelps

I only had 2 courses in abnormal psychology but that is enough to diagnose this truly sick individual. He is so full of self hatred that he is trying to become a martyr. The turmoil in hIs sick inner self is clearly evident in his actions. He has made a connection between two things (gays and military deaths) and insists that his imaginary pal God hates gays too. A similar diagnosis can be made for Dr. James Dobson who finds homosexual threats in children's puppet characters and cartoon characters. Neither seems to have actually read the Bible. "God is love!"
Ease up guys! Remember all pathologies are extant in all people. Start practicing self love and do what Jesus suggested and consider lilies and the sparrows of the field. Only anonymous since I don't want to get on any nuts list.

I was working at that bar in Ann Arbor during that protest. It was quite amazing how the way the owners of the bar changed a potentially ugly event into something that filled the bar to capacity.

May Fred Phelps die a horrible death and burn in the depths of Hell for his actions.

Wow, card-carrying? I didn't know you guys had cards...

Actually (and I'm going to put this on the next update) I was kind of pleased to see how many of the fourth generation links were from center-to-right.

Also, who knew there was a progressive right movement? I'm sort of fascinated about that. I'll have to do some reading when I'm less insanely busy to find out what's up with that.
huscoon From: huscoon Date: August 9th, 2005 02:10 pm (UTC) (linkie thing)
Yeah, I'm member #26,175,381. Rush Limbaugh is #1. :)

And progressive right movement? Isn't that something like the traditionalist liberal movement? Almost makes no sense what so ever.
jmhm From: jmhm Date: August 9th, 2005 03:16 pm (UTC) (linkie thing)
I dunno, you could make a case that the founding fathers were progressives, so at least in this country, it's traditional...

Good idea.

Thanks for posting this; always looking for new ways to help out. Additionally, thanks for posting the phone number of the bank to send money to. It makes for good confirmation.

Sincerely, yet another member of the right (that is terribly distressed about folks like Fred Phelps.)

I just found something I didn't know I had.

My, "war face," that bit of silliness in Full Metal Jacket where the Drill Instructor is telling Private Joker to show him this rictus of hate and and rage. The distilled anger he has to carry around to fight in combat.

I've never really felt that.

Phelps, he pisses me off. His brand of religious fervor offends my very soul. I have been of a mind that he ought to be smacked around for his unbelievable lack of compassion.

This takes the cake. I, quite simple, wanted to kill him while I was reading this. My mouth twisted, my brows lowerd and my heart became a cold lump in my breast. Even as I felt it happening, and knew it was pointless I stored it up.

Someday I might need it.

I pray to God I never see Phelps in person.

I have to say, I kept away from his protest of the gay alternative high school for pretty much that reason.
