Just IMHO, I think the whole "redemption" argument is beside the point. It's like when you defend the Nazis parading in your hometown--I don't pretend to like 'em, but that's democracy. Similarly, I don't care if Tookie was an unrepentant gang scumbag, I just don't like my government in the business of murdering people. Especially with goons like Arnie in chage of clemency, sigh.

Arnie had no choice, he wants to run again, and if the base (about 30 percent) of the far right abandons him, he can't get nominated.

He has almost zero chance of actually being elected in a real race, but the only chance he had required that he do it over Tookie Williams' dead body.

One more reason I'll be voting against him.
